When we are closed
If you need to seek urgent medical advice when the surgery is closed please phone 111.
You may be asked to attend the treatment centre which is situated in Dorset County Hospital. Please note that all phone conversations with NHS 111 are recorded as a matter of routine.
NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.
Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

NHS Pharmacy First
Pharmacy First is an NHS advanced Service that lets patients get treatment and advice for certain common conditions directly from a community such as Poundbury Pharmacy, Boots or Superdrug- often without seeing a GP first.
The idea is to make it easier and quicker for patients to get help with minor illnesses, reduce pressure on GP practices, and free up appointments for people who need more complex care.
What pharmacies can do under Pharmacy First
Under this scheme, trained community pharmacists can:
- · Assess and advise on certain health conditions.
- · Supply NHS medicines – including some prescription only medications – if clinically appropriate.
- · Refer patients on to the GP is the presenting conplaint is more serious or if it is outside the scope of the service.
- · Send a notification of the consultation on to the registered GP.
Pharmacists use clinical pathways – step-by-step tools developed with clinical experts- to ensure safety and alignment with best practice.
